2009 - 2010
To: Manchester Area Human Resources Association Members
From: John D. Roller, SPHR, CEBS, MAHRA President
I am excited and honored to begin my role as your President. I first joined MAHRA back in 1988 when it was known as the Greater Manchester Personnel Association and have seen it grow into one of the premier Human Resource associations in the area. We have assembled a great “supporting cast” in this year’s Board of Directors and together we will strive to bring you educational and networking events that not only help you understand and navigate the complex HR arena, but also provide you with a network in which you can supplement this education with peer-to-peer guidance. Your responses to our annual program and monthly surveys are extremely important to your Board. We will continue to use them but will also be undertaking a more direct approach by phoning and visiting our membership on occasion to get direct feedback on how we are doing and ways in which we might make MAHRA even better.
On September 17, 2009, we will kick off our new program year with a joint meeting in partnership with the Human Resources Association – Greater Concord, entitled “Emerging Trends in Performance Management.” The featured speaker for this event is Jamie Resker, who will provide attendees with a simple yet extremely effective step-by-step approach to difficult performance management discussions. This is a great meeting to invite your managers and supervisors, so mark your calendar and save the date as it’s bound to be a sell out event! This program has been submitted for 2.25 general hours of HRCI recertification credits.
Our association continues to be a leader in the state in many ways. We have increased our involvement in the community with our sponsorship of New Horizons, added more programs that are Strategic credit approved, and were one of the first to offer member rates for our programs to any NH SHRM chapter member. As a culmination of our efforts, we have received our 12th Superior Merit Award from the Society of Human Resource Management! Our success as an association is because of you. We encourage you to attend our program meetings, pass along ideas and volunteer. Contact a board or committee member today to let us know how we can best serve you.
I would like to acknowledge two of our departing board members who have given selflessly and offered many hours of support and assistance in keeping MAHRA’s mission moving forward. On behalf of the MAHRA membership, I want to extend our gratitude to Kara O’Connell and Debra Tuttle for their volunteerism and thank them for serving as a board member of MAHRA.
We have enclosed with this letter a Membership Renewal Application, Chapter Designation Form, and a 2009 – 2010 Dues Invoice. Please complete these documents and return it with your dues by the June 31st, 2009, deadline to maintain your membership. Please COMPLETE and fax to SHRM the Chapter Designation Form – this is very important to MAHRA as we receive assistance from SHRM for your designation.
