Human Resources Professionals Getting NH Students Ready for the Workforce!
With the support of Manchester Area Human Resources Association (MAHRA) and Greater Merrimack Valley Human Resources Association (GMVHRA) and Greater Nashua Human Resources Association (GNHRA) nearly 700 students from Pinkerton Academy were able to participate in a workforce readiness workshop. This two-day workshop was held on October 19

thin which volunteers met with groups of students to prepare them for the workforce. Douglas A. Cullen, Pinkerton Academy Career & Technical Education Center stated, “The success of the program last year provided the foundation or Pinkerton’s decision to increase attendance this year and broaden the program’s deployment.” Students heard first hand from Human Resources Professional the importance of proper resume writing, presentation skills, interviewing skills and understanding employer expectations. Students had the opportunity to engage with human resources leaders from around the state through an engaging workshop that included hands on practice of interviewing and presentation skills.
Programs such as this are a valuable extension of the classroom curriculum in helping students better prepare to enter the workforce. “Pinkerton continues to strengthen the workforce readiness of its students across various career paths and disciplines. As one of the leaders in Career & Technical Education (CTE) in New Hampshire, we’re proud of the new partnership with the various Human Resource Association chapters in NH enabling students within, and outside, CTE to take advantage of this valuable opportunity” Said Cullen. “As a Human Resources Professional, I believe it’s important to prepare these students for the world ahead of them, especially since they will be working in our organizations in the future,” says Laurie Glaude, President-Elect for MAHRA.
