Manchester Area Human Resources Association Supports Continued Learning
The Manchester Area Human Resources Association (MAHRA) will be submitting a check to the SHRM Foundation for over $3,000. The money was raised throughout 2011 through MAHRA membership donations as well as a successful silent auction in December. Michelle Strasburger, Foundation Chair on the MAHRA board says, “Our members have been very supportive of the SHRM Foundation by making donations at monthly meetings as well as making donations and bidding at the silent auction. While we have annually submitted donations to the SHRM Foundation, this year our members helped us overachieve on our goal.”
The SHRM Foundation is a non-profit affiliate of SHRM, the Society of Human Resources Management. This organization provides over $150,000 in scholarships to Human Resources Professionals and students looking to pursue a degree in Human Resources. The organization also funds research to advance the Human Resources knowledge base. “The SHRM Foundation is an invaluable partner to Human Resources Professionals,” says Mike Klyop, President of MAHRA. “I am excited to present this check to the Foundation to show our continued support. It is a great way to kick off an exciting year at MAHRA,” stated Klyop.
The Manchester Area Human Resources Association was originally formed in 1954 by a small group of local professionals who were interested in sharing information and experiences about personnel issues. MAHRA was affiliated with the Society for Human Resource Management in 1973. MAHRA currently maintains a membership of over 180 members representing a diverse range of professionals working in the interests of human resource management for private and public organizations of all types and sizes, as well as education and various service firms that contribute to the needs and goals of the profession.
